Former blueprint shop to be transformed into a new, two-story bar in downtown Boise

For 113 years, it stood as a blueprint shop.

Now, the Main Street property next to Humpin’ Hannah’s in Boise could reopen as a bar. Todd Asin, who already opened The Atlas Bar, The Royal, and is set to open a third bar in Meridian called The Alpine, is taking over the storefront and bringing The Stag Bar to downtown Boise.

As BoiseDev reported last year, Idaho Blueprint and Supply closed after 113 years in business.

Once the bar is up and running, Asin said it will have the feel of a classic college bar to match the other offerings in the area. The store consists of two levels. The plan is for the bar to be on the bottom level and stretch all the way up the wall.

Asin said he’s looking forward to using the former store’s large mezzanine to give pool players on the upper level a unique vantage point.

“You can literally get a bird’s eye view of the whole place,” Asin said.

Asin didn’t plan on undertaking the development of two bars at once, he said it just kind of happened that way.

“The guys that bought the building hit me up,” Asin said. “They had been to the Royal and the Atlas. And they actually called me up and asked if I’d be interested in opening something there.”

At the time, it looked like The Alpine wouldn’t come to fruition, so he agreed to take on The Stag Bar. Then a month later, The Alpine project came back online. Asin said he and his wife didn’t want to give up on either project.

“We were just like ‘Oh man, Screw it. Let’s do it,’” Asin said. “So that is why we have two going on right now and I’m running around like a crazy person.”

Asin said due to the two-level structure of the building, the permitting process has taken a lot longer than he expected. He said once all the necessary paperwork has been filed and approved and they can start construction, the bar should be up and running in approximately three months.
